When It All Began

In 1976, Carl Eriksson took the first step and founded Tura Nord AB. A step that marked the beginning of a company where commitment and development have gone hand in hand for 50 years.

First Logo

Tura Nord AB’s first logo reflected the time in which it was created. It was simple and functional in its expression, with a focus on clarity. The logo became a natural part of the company’s early identity and accompanied it during the first years when the foundation of the business was established.

A few words from
the founder Carl

What made you start the company in 1976?

To transition from being a photo retailer, which I had been for many years, to a wholesale business with different working hours than retail.

Where does the name come from?

Turaphot GmbH in Düren, Germany. Our first agency, dealing in photographic paper and film.

What has changed the most in the industry since 1976?

The photography industry has shifted from analog to digital. There were around 2,000 photo stores back then, but now only a few “real” photo stores remain.

Is there any person or customer who has meant especially much over the years?

Marianne, my wife, who has managed the finances throughout the years. Palle Christensen was a salesperson who joined the company in the late 1970s. He brought great inspiration and joy during his time until his 70th birthday. Stefan Eriksson contributed new and bold ideas, helping shape Tura into what it is today.

When you look at Tura today, what makes you most proud?

That the company has adapted to customers’ needs and that we have diversified beyond photography.

1979

First Agreement Signed

The company expands

1986 was a significant year for us. We surpassed SEK 25 million in revenue, our team grew to 15 employees, and we took the next step in the company’s development by relocating operations to Gruvgatan. It was a milestone that marked both growth and confidence in the future, and laid the foundation for the years ahead.

Business idea;

"To supply specialist retailers with high-quality photo and video products, provide a high level of service, ensure profitability for resellers, and maintain accessibility for consumers."

A few words from CEO Stefan

How would you describe Tura when you took over as CEO in 1991?

When I took over as CEO in 1991, Tura Nord AB (as it was called at the time) was a relatively small company, but with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and close relationships with both customers and suppliers. The foundation had been laid through work within the photo category and distribution via resellers. At the same time, there was a clear opportunity to further develop the business, expand the product range, and grow geographically.

How have you worked to preserve Tura’s culture as the company has grown and evolved?

For me, it has always been important to preserve the feeling that existed from the beginning. Tura has always been a company where decisions can be made quickly and where we maintain close contact with both customers and suppliers. As we have grown, we have tried to maintain a family-like culture where employee engagement and responsibility are central.

What makes you most proud when you look back on your years as CEO?

What I am most proud of is that we have managed to develop the company while maintaining our values. We have grown from a small company into an established Nordic distributor with a broad product range and many strong brands. Most importantly, we have done this together as a company, with committed employees and long-term partnerships.

What did the future look like in 1976?

The industry was expanding, with many competitors and rapid development. Over time, most of them have disappeared, while we have continued to grow. In 1981, we took an important step and moved into our first owned building, and as growth continued, in 1989 we moved on to even larger and more modern premises.

// Carl-Lennart Eriksson

What does the future look like in 2026?

The industry continues to develop rapidly, placing demands on both flexibility and innovation. At the same time, I see great opportunities ahead. Technology is constantly evolving, and new product categories are emerging. For Tura, the future is about continuing to develop our offering, strengthening our relationships with suppliers and retailers, and remaining a strong distribution partner, especially in the Nordic region.
