CONVERSE

Converse is an American company that manufactures shoes. They have been selling shoes since the early 1900s. Marquis M Converse began in 1908 the manufacture of shoes with rubber soles. Basketball player Chuck Taylor began using the shoes and found them very comfortable to use on the field, and soon became their representatives. He worked for the company until his death in 1969, and the shoes came to be known as "Chucks".

They have become known for their basketball shoes and they became popular outside the world of sport in the 1970s, in that several popular rock bands started to have them.
